Alexander Isak’s future was brought up once again after he scored a brace for Newcastle United against Wolves.

Newcastle United’s super Swede was able to block out the noise as he continued his exceptional scoring streak in a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves.

Alexander Isak was Newcastle’s best player against Wolves after scoring twice and assisting Anthony Gordon for the third. It means Isak has now beaten Alan Shearer’s record with goals in eight consecutive Premier League matches.

After the full-time whistle, teammate Sven Botman challenged Isak to break the all-time Premier League record for goals in consecutive games. To achieve that, he would have to score in Newcastle’s next four matches.

Eddie Howe admitted he is not overly fussed about Alexander Isak’s record – his focus will be on keeping hold of the 25-year-old star.

Shay Given claims Alexander Isak has become priceless

There is no surprise that Isak has attracted interest from Premier League rivals, but Newcastle are growing in confidence that Isak will stay.

Reports claim Newcastle have set a £150m asking price for Isak amid interest, but Micah Richards believes Isak is worth £250m.

Shay Given has gone one step further and claimed that Isak has become completely “priceless” to Newcastle and Howe. The former Toon shot-stopper disagrees with reports that suggest Newcastle would accept a £150m bid.

Speaking on TNT Sports after the Wolves win, Given said: “I don’t think he is going anywhere at the moment; he is priceless.

“I don’t think [Newcastle would sell] at any price.

“People are talking about £150 million to buy him. Even if you put that on the table, they still would not be able to get him.

“He is a brilliant player, any team in the league would be happy to have Alexander Isak, and I think Newcastle are very happy that he is at St James’ Park.”

Newcastle confident in Alexander Isak contract progress

Isak’s current deal is valid until 2028 but Newcastle are understandably eager to agree a new bumper deal that ends all speculation about an exit.

After reaching stalemate earlier this season, Isak’s contract talks will resume in the summer when the striker will know whether or not European qualification has been secured.

Newcastle’s win over Wolves means they have climbed to fourth in the Premier League table, making a return to the Champions League very possible this season.

Newcastle are confident Isak will sign a new contract and inherit the iconic No.9 shirt at St James’ Park once worn by the legendary Alan Shearer.

In order to sign a new deal, Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner, but it is fair to say that he has done more than enough to earn a big pay rise.
