Micah Richards names the record-breaking price Newcastle United should demand for Alexander Isak

Frustratingly, Alexander Isak’s goal against Arsenal has only ramped up talk of him leaving Newcastle United.

Newcastle United’s super Swede continued his incredible scoring streak by breaking the deadlock at The Emirates on Tuesday evening.

A 2-0 victory against Arsenal means Newcastle will kick off at St James’ Park in the second leg with a healthy advantage. The Magpies are just 90 minutes away from reaching another cup final under Eddie Howe.

Isak was superb against Arsenal having opened the scoring in the first half before his shot set up Anthony Gordon for the second after the break.

Arsenal are desperate to sign Isak in 2025, but with Newcastle chasing Champions League football and silverware this season, there doesn’t seem like much of a reason to leave.

Micah Richards names record-breaking Alexander Isak price tag

Isak has made it blindingly clear that he is the best striker in the Premier League – and perhaps the best in world football at the moment.

That naturally will attract bidders, but Newcastle have slapped a £150m asking price on Isak to fight off interest.

If a bid did match that price tag, it would shatter the Premier League transfer record currently set by Enzo Fernandez’s £107m move to Chelsea.

However, Micah Richards believes an extra £100m should be added to Isak’s asking price at Newcastle.

Speaking on the latest The Rest is Football podcast, Richards said: “I wouldn’t sell him [for £150m], not a chance.” With a grin across his face, he then added: “£250million.”

Would Alan Shearer sell Alexander Isak for £150m?

Isak scored his 50th goal for Newcastle in the victory against Arsenal, but he still has some way to go to catch Alan Shearer’s goal record.

No one knows goals better than the Toon legend, and Alan Shearer has now had his say on whether Newcastle should accept a £150m bid for Isak.

“No is the answer,” Shearer said bluntly.

“Who are they going to go out and get that could come into Newcastle and do a similar job? We know that centre-forward is the most important position. He’s one of the reasons why they are sitting in fifth and in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

“What are the fans going to do with the money? No, I wouldn’t, absolutely not.”

That viewpoint is a pretty popular one among the Newcastle fanbase.
