Alexander Isak’s form at Newcastle United is fascinating.
There’s no doubt that Newcastle have one of the biggest assets the club has ever seen at their disposal.
In Newcastle’s win against the Wolves on Wednesday night, Isak scored in his eighth consecutive Premier League game, breaking the record that Alan Shearer and Joe Willock had previously held.
Before the Wolves game, only Daniel Sturridge, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jamie Vardy had scored in eight straight Premier League games. The Swede is three games away from equalling the existing record and is set to break it in Newcastle’s trip to Manchester City in February.
Shearer referred to Isak as “class” after he scored a brace against Wolves, putting his Premier League tally to 15 for the season.
Fans are hoping the 25-year-old will soon sign a new contract. The thought inside the club is that Isak will commit his future to Newcastle and take Shearer’s number nine shirt if he does.
Isak has been linked with a move to Arsenal in January but can’t afford the £150million price tag Newcastle have set for him. Mikel Arteta is now desperate for a striker after an ACL injury to Gabriel Jesus.
Now, speculation over how much it would cost clubs to buy him should he be sold has come to light.

Pete Graves says Newcastle should sell Isak for £200m
Isak’s price tag is a clear hands-off warning to any club looking to sign him, Arsenal included. Now, Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves has upped the ante for any interested parties – suggesting that even the reported £150m won’t be enough for Newcastle to sell.
Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, Graves was asked if there was a chance that Isak could be sold to Arsenal in the near future.
“There’s no chance (Isak will join Arsenal), £200m to start if they want to get (Newcastle) round the table.”
Arsenal have also been linked with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has scored eight goals in 17 Bundesliga games this season.
Newcastle also want Sesko as a potential alternative to Isak should he leave. The feeling around Europe is that Sesko isn’t ready to move to a big club yet, a key reason why he rejected Premier League offers in the summer.
Whoever comes in for the Swede upon his departure has huge shoes to fill, the pressure will be on Mitchell to deliver but for now, Isak will stay at the club until someone can match his valuation.
Where can Newcastle find goals away from Isak
Isak has been the real difference-maker for Newcastle this season, in fact, the Swede has scored 40.5% of the Magpies Premier League goals this season.
The worry for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is that they’ve become too reliant on Isak for goals. They may struggle to score should he get injured or leave the club.
Thankfully, Anthony Gordon has recently returned to top form with two goals in as many league games against Tottenham and Wolves. He also scored a penalty in Newcastle’s win against Bromley on Sunday.
| Newcastle’s Premier League Top Scorers | Goals |
| Alexander Isak | 15 |
| Anthony Gordon | 6 |
| Harvey Barnes | 5 |
| Joelinton | 4 |
| Jacob Murphy | 3 |
Elsewhere, Joelinton and Jacob Murphy have scored multiple goals this season although the latter is more likely to assist than find the net.
William Osula’s goal on Sunday showed he could also be someone who finds the net frequently in this Newcastle side.
