The latest Newcastle United news and transfer rumours, including updates on Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi.

After the first few days of the summer transfer window, Newcastle United fans have had very little to cheer about, but that should change as the days move on.

Antonio Cordero has already signed and will officially join the Magpies at the start of July. In the meantime, work is going on behind the scenes to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad for an important 2025/26 campaign.

Though Newcastle appear to have lost ground in their bid for a new centre-back, they have received good news on the Alexander Isak front.

Newcastle United slap £200m price tag on Alexander Isak

Reports earlier in the week stated that Liverpool were ready to make an approach for Isak, with a bid of £120m set to be sent over to Newcastle. However, the Magpies’ stance on selling the 25-year-old has been reiterated: Isak is not for sale.

Reports have now stated that Newcastle will only accept in excess of £150m for Isak and may only consider offers nearing the £200m world record fee PSG paid for Neymar in 2017.

In March, Isak stated that he is happy at Newcastle and is not actively looking for a move away from the club this summer. His main focus was Champions League qualification, which he helped Newcastle achieve.

Newcastle want to give Isak a new contract this summer as a reward for his good form and to deter interest from the likes of Liverpool.

Marc Guehi set to reject Newcastle United for Liverpool move

After failing to sign him in 2024, Newcastle want to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who only has one year left on his contract.

However, reports on Thursday stated that Liverpool are ready to make a bid for Guehi to replace Jarell Quansah, who looks set to sign for Bayer Leverkusen in the coming days.

Newcastle think they can sign Guehi for £40m, but have since been informed that the England international would rather move to Liverpool instead of the Magpies.

Guehi’s representatives want him to sign for Liverpool, quashing any hope Newcastle may have had for a deal.

Eddie Howe remains calm about Newcastle United’s transfer window

The 2025 summer transfer window is only a few days old, but fans are starting to get restless at the lack of signings.

Many are eager to see new players come through the door after almost two years without a single improvement to Howe’s starting XI. The departure of Paul Mitchell does not help, but Steve Nickson and Andy Howe, nephew of Eddie, have stepped up in his absence.

Despite the early setbacks, Howe is still feeling confident about Newcastle’s transfer window, and is eager to get at least one player through the door before his players return for pre-season in July.
