Alexander Isak has hit top form at Newcastle United right ahead of the January transfer window.
The Swedish striker scored eight goals and made two assists across December. As a result, Alexander Isak has been nominated for Player of the Month in the Premier League.
He finished 2024 with a whopping 28 goals scored, meaning Isak fell just short of Alan Shearer’s record at Newcastle.
He has easily been Newcastle’s best player over the last year and Eddie Howe insists he would not swap Isak for any player in world football.
That surely means Newcastle will keep hold of Alexander Isak in 2025 then? If only it were that simple. Newcastle have set a £150m asking price for Isak in an attempt to fend off bidders, but Arsenal continue to be linked with the 25-year-old.

Paul Merson urges Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak
After an incredible run of form over December, Isak has entered the conversation of being the best striker in the Premier League.
Jamie Carragher believes Isak is one of the best in Europe, and that kind of praise naturally comes with plenty of transfer interest.
Arsenal want to sign Isak but will have to match Newcastle’s hefty asking price. Chelsea were also interested in the summer but the Gunners now appear to be favourites if Isak leaves.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Paul Merson said: “Well if I was Arsenal and I had the money, I’d go out and buy Isak. I’d break the bank for him.
“I think he’s the best of the best and takes Arsenal to another level.
“If [Gabriel] Jesus can keep doing what he’s doing then they won’t have to, but I’m looking at the all round picture and next season as well. If Arsenal can get hold of Isak, who is the best in the business at the moment, I think that would be a massive coup.
“Sorry Newcastle fans.”
Latest Alexander Isak contract update at Newcastle United
Keeping hold of Isak in 2025 will be a top priority and Isak was in talks to sign a new deal at St James’ Park before negotiations were pushed back until the summer.
Isak currently earns £120,000 per week on his contract, which is valid until 2028. However, Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner – something he has proven worthy of in the last month.
The other condition is that Newcastle must secure Champions League to keep Isak and convince him to sign a new deal.
