Isak was even applauded by Ipswich fans for his brilliant display at Portman Road, and it now means the Swedish star has scored six goals in his last four Premier League matches.
The Magpies have now climbed up to seventh in the Premier League table after Saturday’s emphatic victory and are just five points off the top four. Champions League qualification could be crucial to keeping Isak at St James’ Park.

Isak’s hat-trick against Ipswich has taken his goal tally up to 10 this season and extended his brilliant scoring record across 2024.

Alexander Isak has two games left to break Alan Shearer’s record
Isak started the season slowly for Newcastle and was hindered by a broken toe, but he is now returning to top form.
Newcastle have two games remaining in 2024, starting with a clash against Aston Villa at St James’ Park on Boxing Day before a visit to Old Trafford in the final game of the year.

Isak currently has an outside chance of shattering a goal record at Newcastle currently held by Alan Shearer.
As pointed out by The Athletic, Isak has now scored 23 Premier League goals in 2024 for Newcastle.
Only Shearer and Andy Cole have scored more league goals in a single calendar year. Shearer’s record stands at 27 set in 2002, while Cole scored 24 in 1994.
It would require a remarkable return over the next two games, but after a hat-trick against Ipswich Isak has a chance to match or beat the record.
Newcastle United must fend off Alexander Isak interest
There is a worrying feeling at St James’ Park that Newcastle may sell a star player in 2025 to help navigate the financial regulations.
There is plenty of interest in Isak from Arsenal and Chelsea, but he has proven this season that he is priceless to Newcastle’s long-term project.

It has become increasingly clear that Isak is one of the world’s top strikers so replacing him isn’t just difficult, it’s impossible.
Even if a huge offer arrives for Isak in January or the summer, Newcastle must look at other options to balance their books.
