Alexander Isak extended his incredible goal record by scoring for Newcastle United against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Newcastle United ran riot in Manchester and won 2-0 on Monday evening to make it five wins in a row across all competitions.
After a fairly underwhelming start to the season, Newcastle will end 2024 in fifth place in the Premier League table which will likely be enough to secure Champions League football come the end of the campaign.
Alexander Isak was superb against Man United and opened the scoring just four minutes into the clash. He has now scored in six consecutive Premier League matches with eight goals in his last six.
Isak fell just short of Alan Shearer’s record across a single calendar year, but there are no doubts that Isak has been Newcastle’s best player in 2024.

Jamie Carragher raves about Alexander Isak after Man United win
During the commentary of Newcastle’s 2-0 win, Gary Neville hailed Isak as a “helluva player”. His fellow presenter Jamie Carragher was also full of praise for the Swedish star.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “Newcastle were outstanding, especially in the first 35 minutes. In Isak, they’ve got one of the best centre forwards in Europe.
“Right now, he is the most in-form striker in the Premier League. He is a superstar.”
Isak continues to be linked with an exit in 2025 but he proved on Monday evening that he is absolutely priceless to Newcastle’s long-term project.
Newcastle will be desperate to tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract as soon as possible. Finishing in the top five will certainly help speed up those negotiations.
The numbers behind Alexander Isak’s masterclass vs Man United
Manchester United’s defence will be having nightmares about Isak after he tore them to shreds at Old Trafford.
Not only did he score the opener, but Isak easily could have added another few goals to his tally if he made better decisions when shooting.
He wasted a golden opportunity in the first half after being played in behind. His chipped effort was easily saved by Andre Onana. A glance at Isak’s overall match stats shows just how impressive he was at Old Trafford.
