As has seemingly been the case throughout this season, Newcastle United are struggling on the injury front.

While there is hope Anthony Gordon has avoided a serious injury, the winger will seemingly likely miss the game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

It would be a major blow for Eddie Howe, who is missing a raft of players including Alexander Isak and Nick Pope.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the Newcastle injury news.

Anthony Gordon

The winger was forced off against Luton and was later spotted wearing a protective boot when leaving the stadium.

Reports from The Athletic, however, suggest Gordon has avoided serious injury and may not be facing a lengthy layoff.

Potential return date: Unknown

Alexander Isak

Isak was replaced before half-time during the win over Aston Villa and Howe concedes the Swede could miss the next couple of games.

Potential return date: March 2024

Joe Willock

Joe Willock has endured a frustrating time of things this season, limited to only six appearances thus far.

The Chronicle claimed at the start of this month that the midfielder could return reasonably soon.

Potential return date: Unknown

Elliot Anderson

Big things were expected of Elliot Anderson this season but he’s not been able to make an appearance since the win over Crystal Palace in October after a back injury.

The midfielder recently posted a photo of himself on the training field, potentially raising hope of a return soon.

Potential return date: Unknown

Matt Targett

Matt Targett has not been able to play since injuring his hamstring against Manchester United in November and no return date has been set.

Potential return date: Unknown

Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles has enjoyed a run in the first-team this season but is currently out with a calf problem.

Potential return date: Unknown

Joelinton

Joelinton is not expected to feature for Newcastle again this season after a thigh injury sustained against Sunderland last month.
