Newcastle United may have to sell players before they can buy again.
Indeed, FFP restraints are said to have frustrated those behind the scenes as Newcastle struggle to sign players.
As a result, players are being linked with a move away as the Magpies look to raise the kind of funds that would allow them to invest again.
Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier have both been tipped for exits, along with Joelinton.
There is, however, better news surrounding Alexander Isak and Sven Botman.

According to the Daily Telegraph, neither of the two will be sold.
Offers simply won’t be entertained for the duo, even though there were suggestions Newcastle may have to sell one of their prized assets if they were to spend big during the January window.
Still, it is now claimed any bids for Isak and Botman will be rejected out of hand.

Newcastle transfers: Isak and Botman boost
While the prospect of losing Guimaraes would be gutting, it is something the club have reportedly accepted will happen in the long run.
With a release clause thought to have been included in his contract, it would barely be a surprise to see him go.
Keeping Isak and Botman, then, is even more important.
Eddie Howe has backed the striker to achieve “incredible things” in his career, having been a regular source of goals since joining in the summer of 2022. Botman, meanwhile, proved hugely impressive last season but injuries have cost him this time around.
Both are still to enter their prime years and Isak has confirmed Botman is one of his best friends in the game. Keeping them both happy and as leading forces in this Newcastle team is a truly major boost.
Guimaraes may go but there’s no reason why these two have to follow.
