There is a lot of talk about Newcastle United having to sell their stars, and now one of their most important players could be the subject of interest from Bayern Munich.

There has been plenty of speculation about Bruno Guimaraes being sold in the near future, while Alexander Isak is another major name who could leave the club for mega money.

It comes at a time when profit and sustainability rules are hindering Newcastle and their ability to spend during the January transfer window.

Now Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing up one of the Magpies’ top stars, but it is not Bruno or Isak.

Bayern Munich want to sign Kieran Trippier from Newcastle

According to the Chronicle, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United during the January transfer window.

The report states that Thomas Tuchel’s side are in the market for a right-back, while a move to Bayern would give the 33-year-old a chance to play alongside former Tottenham Hotspur teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier.

The Chronicle add that Eddie Howe would be reluctant to sell Kieran Trippier right now, which is no surprise considering how important he has been to the club since his arrival.

He joined Newcastle two years ago from Atletico Madrid, costing £12million. It may go down as the best £12million the club ever spent, with Trippier proving to be an inspired first signing by the new owners.

Alan Shearer described the defender as a ‘game-changer‘ for Newcastle, and he has been exactly that – both on and off the pitch.

It would be a major shock to see him go, but Newcastle do at least have some comfort in the fact that they already have his replacement. That is why the Magpies invested so much money in Tino Livramento at the start of the season.
