Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has been subject to interest from Galatasaray.
It is expected to be a quiet transfer deadline day on Tyneside after Newcastle United wrapped up their outgoings in the days leading up to it.
Newcastle sold Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United ending his six-year stint at the club while Lloyd Kelly’s move to Juventus is all but announced.
Kieran Trippier has been tipped to leave the club for the last 12 months. Newcastle nearly sold Trippier to Bayern Munich in January 2024 after a bid of around £13m was placed for him.
The 34-year-old pushed for a move in the summer, handing in multiple transfer requests. In the current window, Turkish side Galatasaray want Trippier, but a move could prove to be difficult before the deadline.
Trippier wants the Galatasaray move, and the Super Lig leaders feel they have a chance of getting the deal done.
With the window in its dying stages, Newcastle have said exactly what they want to let Trippier go.
Newcastle set Kieran Trippier transfer conditions
Eddie Howe is not in a hurry to sell any more players after losing depth in his defence and on the wing. That does not look like it will stop Galatasaray from making an approach for Trippier.
Reports on Sunday suggested that Galatasaray would offer £4.2m for Trippier which would recoup around a third of the £12m fee Newcastle paid for him in 2022.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle would only be willing to let Trippier go if a ‘sizable’ offer comes in for him before the deadline.
Howe is reportedly very against letting Trippier, who Lewis Hall called a role model, leave before the deadline. even if the Turkish side makes an attractive offer. Trippier came on as a second half substitute in Newcastle’s 2-1 loss to Fulham replacing Tino Livramento.
Newcastle still have time to bag a transfer fee for Trippier as his contract does not run out until the end of next season.

Kieran Trippier is still good enough to play for Newcastle
Although Trippier wants to leave the club and explore other avenues, he is more than capable of performing to a high standard in Howe’s team.
Even though Trippier has featured significantly less this season, he has proven to fans that he is still a reliable option at right-back.
Newcastle will have a very hard time replacing Trippier should he leave and their depth in defence will be much worse.
Aside from Trippier, Newcastle have only got Emil Krafth as backup to Livramento if anything were to happen to him. The Magpies are aiming for Champions League football and with two squad players already out the door Howe needs to keep a hold of as many key assets as he can.
Trippier will be in contention to feature in Newcastle’s important Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
