Newcastle United have the chance to sell Kieran Trippier before the January transfer window closes.
There has not been a huge amount of speculation regarding the 34-year-old’s future, despite Kieran Trippier asking to leave Newcastle in the summer.
He was denied an exit then, but it always felt likely that a January move would be a possibility.
It was then reported last week that Galatasaray were an option for Trippier, as the Turkish club go in search of a new right-back.
It has since been claimed that Galatasaray are willing to pay £4.2million for Trippier, whose Newcastle United contract is due to expire in 2026.

Kieran Trippier’s stance on leaving Newcastle United
Understandably, Eddie Howe does not want to lose Kieran Trippier, but how does the player feel about a late transfer to Turkey? TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that the right-back is keen to make the move away from Newcastle United.
“From my understanding, Trippier wants the move,” he said.
“Galatasaray thinks there is a real chance that a deal could get done. Trippier’s people want it to happen.
“I would put it at 50/50, personally. It is a realistic scenario that he does leave.”
Newcastle cannot let Kieran Trippier go
While Trippier fancies the move, it would be a major mistake for Newcastle United to sell him right now.
Eddie Howe’s squad has already gotten weaker with Miguel Almiron leaving, and it is set to take another hit with Lloyd Kelly due to join Juventus.
Those deals will make the Newcastle United squad a lot lighter, which is why they simply cannot afford to let anyone else go – especially with the mood being that reinforcements will not arrive.
While Trippier is not a regular starter at St James’ Park, he is needed as Tino Livramento’s understudy. He is a valuable member of the squad, and his experience is going to be vital as Newcastle challenge for silverware and a place in the Champions League.
