Miguel Almiron has officially left Newcastle United after six years.
It certainly feels like the end of an era at Newcastle United. One of the club’s longstanding players has left the club after making 223 appearances in black and white.
Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle exit was the only first-team departure in the January transfer window. It is believed that he needed to leave due to PSR worries.
Geordie Boot Boys recently reported that Almiron was not fully convinced about leaving Newcastle despite falling out of favour with Toon boss Eddie Howe.
The 30-year-old had only made nine appearances in the Premier League this season with most of them coming from the bench.
Newcastle players sent good luck messages to Almiron once the club had announced that he had left. Many fans were also in agreement that he was a player who always gave 110% for the club.
The Paraguayan has now taken to social media to send a message to the Newcastle fans.

Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United promise
Almiron has returned to Atlanta United, the club he joined Newcastle from in 2019. Atlanta fans gave the 30-year-old a warm welcome when he arrived at the airport ahead of his medical.
His work rate was admired by many of his former teammates. Kieran Trippier loved playing with Almiron because of how much he would run back and help him in defence.
Almiron posted a farewell message on Instagram with a promise to supporters that he will be cheering Newcastle on from afar.
His post read: “The time has come for me to say goodbye – to all of you and to a club with such an incredible history as Newcastle.
“I’ll always be grateful to the club for giving me the chance to play in the best league of the world, making a childhood dream come true.
“I leave with so many amazing memories wearing this shirt, alongside my teammates, the staff, the directors, and of course, the incredible fans I’ve had the privilege to share this journey with over the years.
“From now on, I’ll be cheering you on as a fan, just like everyone else!”
Newcastle are set to pocket around £11m for Almiron – a big help for their PSR worries.

Eddie Howe on Almiron’s Newcastle United exit
Howe took his pre-match press conference ahead of Newcastle’s game against Fulham at St James’ Park where he was asked about his feelings on the club selling Almiron.
“Miggy was a very special player and person,” he said.
“He will be greatly missed by everyone. Miggy had a bubbly and bright personality, he was ultra-professional.
“He would always be in looking after himself, eating the right foods and recovering, he was a really good role model.
“Miggy is going to be greatly missed as a player and as a person. He always gave his best, in any moment.”
Almiron played 121 games under Howe, scoring 17 goals including 11 in the 2022/23 season which helped Newcastle qualify for the Champions League.
