Turkish outfit Galatasaray are preparing a late bid to sign Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier before Monday’s deadline.
Newcastle United may have some deadline-day drama after all. It has been an eerily quiet window for the Magpies so far, but there are now two potential deals that could be completed late on.
Juventus have struck an agreement for Lloyd Kelly, with the 26-year-old set to undergo a medical before completing a £15m move to the Italian giants.
But another Newcastle defender could join him heading for the exit door in the next 48 hours with Kieran Trippier linked to Galatasaray.
Trippier asked to leave Newcastle in the summer but ended up staying put on Tyneside. It seems a move to Turkey is now back on the cards.

Eddie Howe’s stance on selling Kieran Trippier to Galatasaray
Back in December, Howe warned Newcastle fans that January will be quiet, but it seems he now has some difficult decisions to make late into the window.
Back in the summer, Howe wanted Kieran Trippier to stay, and the Newcastle boss got his wish. Newcastle fans want to keep Trippier, and Howe’s stance is also unchanged.
Trippier has made 18 appearances this season but has been playing second fiddle to Tino Livramento at right-back. In those 18 appearances, he has played less than 750 minutes of football.
Despite his lack of playing time, it seems Howe is once again eager for Trippier to stay at St James’ Park.
According to the Northern Echo, Howe does not want to lose Trippier before Monday’s deadline, but Newcastle are expecting a bid to arrive from Galatasaray shortly.
Trippier has been hailed as “quality” by Howe, with the Newcastle boss a big admirer of his abilities on the pitch and his leadership off of it.
How much Galatasaray are willing to pay for Kieran Trippier
Newcastle struck a bargain £12m deal to sign Trippier in 2022. Three years on, the Magpies will now have the chance to recoup some of their investment.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Galatasaray are yet to submit a bid for Trippier but they have made it clear they are willing to pay close to €5m (£4.2m).
Jacobs adds that Galatasaray plan to revisit the Trippier deal in the summer if they cannot strike an agreement in the next two days.
A £4.2m fee for Trippier would help Newcastle ease their PSR concerns on top of the £15m they are about to collect for Kelly.
However, it would leave Howe very short of options at right-back if Livramento suffered a setback in the second half of the season.
