Newcastle United continued to defy the odds on Saturday night.
Despite an injury crisis added to by Nick Pope going off injured, Newcastle beat Manchester United at St James’ Park.
Anthony Gordon again starred for the Magpies on a night when they could have scored more. Kieran Trippier smacked the upright with a fine free-kick but, eventually, Eddie Howe’s side found a way through.
Even with so many absences, players keep stepping up for Newcastle.
Indeed, only days after a controversial VAR decision was called against him, Tino Livramento impressed once more.
Hailed as being in “immense” form by Gordon, another of his teammates was full of praise.

After the game, Livramento took to Instagram to celebrate.
He captioned of a collage of himself in action: “Great team performance and result last night! SJP was rocking.”
Murphy then replied: “Wow” with a shocked emoji followed by one indicating Livramento’s speed.

Tino Livramento: How well did Newcastle star play vs Manchester United
It was another excellent night for him, just as it was against the same opposition in the Carabao Cup.
The 21-year-old (via WhoScored) completed three dribbles on Saturday night (the joint-highest in the Newcastle ranks), finding the mark with one of his attempted two crosses and two of his four attempted long balls.
A threat down the left all evening with his speed, it’s going to be difficult for Dan Burn to get back into the side. While his more senior teammate deserves more respect than being written off, Livramento is looking so much more dangerous offensively.
A much younger player too, the future is hugely exciting.
What a signing he’s been for the club.
To think they didn’t even head into the summer transfer window necessarily targeting him either…
