Anthony Gordon was again the star for Newcastle United on Saturday night.
The £40m winger scored the winner as Newcastle rounded off another great week by beating Manchester United at St James’ Park.
Much was expected of Gordon this season after a difficult first few months following a move from Everton last January and it’s fair to say he’s delivering.
At 22, the scope for yet more improvement is hugely exciting too. The idea of him improving even further is mouth-watering and he’s not the only reason for optimism.
Tino Livramento had another good game at left-back and the two look to be forming an excellent partnership.
Speaking after the game, Gordon addressed the budding partnership.
Tino Livramento: Anthony Gordon full of praise for Newcastle star
Gordon was quizzed on what it was like to play with Livramento, who has stepped in for Dan Burn in that position since his injury.
He responded (via TNT Sports): “He has been a great addition to the squad. A lovely person and more importantly what a player. His form has been immense and I am really enjoying playing with him.”

Newcastle: Gordon and Livramento could dominate for years to come
Both still in their early-twenties, there is little reason why these two can’t star for many years to come.
Given the resources on offer and ambition running through Newcastle these days, it would be a major shock to see either young player sold against the club’s will.
With that in mind, they will surely have every chance to keep impressing at the highest of levels.
Newcastle reportedly didn’t go into the summer transfer window necessarily looking to sign a right-back but made something of a U-turn when Livramento became available.
Now, they’ll be thanking their lucky stars he did. What a signing he’s been.
