It has been an incredible month so far for Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall.

After a difficult debut season at Newcastle United, Lewis Hall’s patience and hard work is finally paying off.

Newcastle signed Hall permanently for £28m this summer and Eddie Howe has now claimed Hall will prove to be a bargain.

Hall has become undroppable for Newcastle this season after a string of impressive performances against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

The 20-year-old left-back has easily been one of Newcastle’s best players this season and his incredible form was rewarded when Hall received his first England call-up this month.

How Lewis Hall has performed for England

Not only did Hall receive his first England call-up in November, but he also starred in both of their Nations League games.

Hall was surprised to make his England debut vs Greece but he came on and put on a brilliant display as the Three Lions won 3-0 under interim boss Lee Carsley.

Just days later, Carsley handed Hall his first England start against Ireland alongside Newcastle teammates Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon.

Howe praised Hall after his England debut, hailing it as a “life-changing” moment for Newcastle’s young defender.

Club legend Alan Shearer also praised Hall for his England displays and he could now become the full-time left-back in a squad short of options in that position.

Lewis Hall compared to Ashley Cole after England success

Already this season, Hall has been compared to Luke Shaw by Howe but the comparisons have just gone to a new level with the Newcastle star compared to Three Lions legend Ashley Cole.

The Mirror questioned their writers on who they thought shone the brightest during Carsley’s tenure and five out of eight named Hall as their standout star.

Chief football writer John Cross wrote: “Hall makes me think of a young Ashley Cole. Quick, tenacious and learnt his trade in another position which perhaps gives him a better appreciation of his all-round game. England have such a left back issue – and Tuchel knows Hall from Chelsea. Hall can make the position his own.”

It is certainly high praise, but Hall deserves his flowers after a magnificent start to the season.
