Lee Carsley sprung a few surprises as he named his England squad for their final camp of 2024.
Newcastle will travel to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon before the Premier League is put on pause for the November international fixtures.
With Newcastle hitting top form in recent weeks with back-to-back victories over Chelsea and Arsenal, there will be plenty of stars at St James’ Park hoping for a call-up.
During the last break, 12 Newcastle players were called up for international duty.
Eddie Howe had been strongly linked with the England job but Thomas Tuchel ended up becoming head coach of the Three Lions.
However, with the German not set to take charge of England until the end of the year, it was interim boss Lee Carsley who selected the squad for November.

Lewis Hall receives first England call-up
The stars aligned for Lewis Hall ahead of the England squad being announced, and Newcastle’s 20-year-old star got his well-deserved call-up to the squad.
Lewis Hall has been superb for Newcastle this season and was a standout player against Chelsea and Arsenal. Joe Cole tipped Hall for an England call-up and he now has a spot in the senior squad.
Carsley announced his 26-man squad on Thursday afternoon, and Newcastle duo Hall and Anthony Gordon were both included.
Gordon starred for England under Carsley during the last international break and he has retained his spot in the squad after a strong run of form with Newcastle.
However, Newcastle fans were quick to spot that Nick Pope and Tino Livramento had been left out.
Livramento got a late England call-up in October, but was not given any minutes by Carsley.
Newcastle fans react to England squad and Lewis Hall call up
It was mixed emotions for Newcastle fans on social media, who were delighted with Hall’s inclusion but frustrated that Livramento and Pope missed out.
After Hall’s call-up, one supporter posted: “Absolutely delighted for him and well deserved!”.
Hall’s older brother Connor, who plays for Brackley Town, also took to social media to praise him on his call-up.
The praise continued, with one fan writing: “Fantastic player and richly deserved.” while another pointed out: “He had to go! Shame you left Tino out though.”
There were plenty of other fans upset about Livramento being snubbed: “Surprised Livramento is out the England team. Hall fully deserves his call up,” said one fan.
Another posted: “Well deserved. Not a better English left-back at the moment. I don’t understand how Livramento and Pope aren’t with him”.
Finally, one post read: “Very disappointing that Tino was called up to previous squads, not given a chance and now dropped from this squad. Where’s the logic to that?!”
