Eddie Howe and Newcastle United have struck gold with Lewis Hall.
The Magpies have got their left-back position sorted for potentially the next 10 years, with Lewis Hall already a guaranteed starter for Newcastle United at the age of 20-years-old.
His rise this season has been remarkable, after Hall endured a frustrating start to his Newcastle career.
But the potential has always been there, while Eddie Howe has retained faith in the defender’s ability. In fact, Howe has felt that Hall will eventually prove to be a bargain, having cost £28million from Chelsea.
That is already proving to be the case, as Hall begins to realise the potential that Howe knew he had.
Who Eddie Howe has compared Lewis Hall to

Newcastle have got their left-back position locked down for the foreseeable future, and that could also be the case for England if Hall gets the chance to impress on the international stage.
The Three Lions have struggled at left-back in recent years, mainly because Luke Shaw has had so many injury problems. If it was not for his fitness issues, he would still be a guaranteed starter for England, as there is no denying his quality.
And that is why it is exciting to see that Howe has likened Hall to Manchester United’s £31million man.
That is according to the Athletic, who report that Howe has stated behind the scenes that he sees similarities between Lewis Hall and Luke Shaw, with the main one being their ability to carry possession and drive forward with the ball.
Lewis Hall is helping change the way Newcastle play
Hall’s ability in possession and desire to get forward is changing the way that Newcastle United play.
It is making the Magpies much less predictable, as they were previously quite lopsided under Howe.
Kieran Trippier was the ball player on the right of defence, while Dan Burn would often fill in as a third centre-back when he was asked to play on the left.
But Hall gives Newcastle greater balance. He is an outlet, and a player who is trusted to have possession.
That quality on the ball comes from his days as a midfielder, but it is at left-back where he is thriving.
Comparisons to Luke Shaw are certainly exciting, and they would be even more exciting if the 29-year-old had not endured a career that has been hampered by injury.
Hopefully Hall does not endure similar issues, and continue to kick on. He is getting better and better, as Hall continues to prove what a signing he was for Newcastle.
