Newcastle United could have a very different starting lineup for the 2025/26 season.

Eddie Howe wants four new signings, with the Newcastle United manager eager to bring in players who can immediately improve his starting XI.

The Magpies’ main priorities are to sign a right-sided centre-back and a right winger, having failed to land either 12 months ago during the 2024 summer transfer window.

Newcastle are interested in Marc Guehi again after missing out on him last summer. Bryan Mbeumo is a Newcastle target too, with Brentford willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old attacker.

With the summer transfer window set to briefly open on June 1st, the Magpies are hoping for a fast start.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United are ready to launch a double swoop for Crystal Palace’s Guehi and Brentford superstar Mbeumo.

They are exciting targets, and could seriously change what Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United starting lineup looks like.

Nick Pope

While Newcastle United want James Trafford amid their search for a goalkeeper, Nick Pope will likely begin the 2025/26 season as the Magpies’ number one.

Tino Livramento

Newcastle United intend to keep Kieran Trippier, but the right-back position still belongs to Tino Livramento.

He should be able to move back to the right of defence, having been deployed on the left since March.

Marc Guehi

Eddie Howe hopes to make up for lost time, as Newcastle get set to reignite their interest in Marc Guehi one year after missing out on him.

He is a player that Howe loves, with the 24-year-old seen as an ideal long-term replacement for Fabian Schar. Guehi is a strong passer of the ball, while he is just as competent on the left as he is on the right.

Sven Botman

By the time the 2025/26 season arrives, Sven Botman will hope to have all of his injury problems behind him.

The 2024/25 campaign was difficult for the 25-year-old, but he always impressed whenever he was fit enough to feature.

Lewis Hall

Newcastle should have Lewis Hall back to full fitness by the time the new Premier League season kicks off.

The youngster enjoyed a breakout year, and will be eager to pick up where he left off after undergoing foot surgery.

Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno Guimaraes’ first year as Newcastle United captain could not have gone better. He lifted the Carabao Cup as the Magpies ended their trophy drought, before helping the club qualify for the Champions League.

Toon fans will hope for more of the same from Bruno.

Sandro Tonali

Unlike the start of the 2024/25 season, 2025/26 will begin with Sandro Tonali operating as Newcastle’s number six.

He has been transformative for Eddie Howe’s side, and will aim to continue establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

Joelinton

After missing the final few games of the season with a knee injury, Newcastle hope to have Joelinton fit for pre-season. He was a big miss, but the Magpies were able to qualify for the Champions League without him.

Bryan Mbeumo

If he does arrive from Brentford, Mbeumo will have the difficult task of replacing Jacob Murphy in the Newcastle United starting XI. However, after netting 20 goals for the Bees, he should be up to the task.

Possible Newcastle United XI for the 2025/26 season if Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbeumo sign for the club.

Alexander Isak

Newcastle United are not selling Alexander Isak. Instead, they will hope he can score more than 20 goals for a third consecutive season.

Hopefully he begins the new season in the starting XI after signing a new contract at St James’ Park.

Anthony Gordon

Despite Harvey Barnes hogging the limelight in the latter stages of the 2024/25 season, it should be Anthony Gordon on the left of Newcastle’s attack when the Premier League returns.

After a difficult campaign, Gordon will be eager to re-establish himself as one of Newcastle United’s superstars.
