Newcastle United fans would love Bryan Mbeumo to join the club this summer.
The Magpies are expected to be very active when the transfer window opens, with Newcastle eyeing three key signings.
One of those will be a right winger, as Paul Mitchell gets set to replace Miguel Almiron following his January move to Atlanta United.
Newcastle United need someone who can compliment Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in attack, while whoever arrives will need to be as influential as Jacob Murphy has been. The 30-year-old is having the season of his life, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists.
Bryan Mbeumo fits the bill. He has been even more prolific for Brentford this season, providing 18 goals and seven assists.

Newcastle United target Bryan Mbeumo deal
In 2024, Mbeumo was called Newcastle’s dream signing.
Now the Magpies will aim to make that dream a reality in 2025.
According to the Telegraph, Eddie Howe would love for Newcastle United to sign Mbeumo from Brentford.
The Telegraph add that every member of the Toon recruitment team is a fan of the 25-year-old, with Brentford expected to listen to offers.
Thomas Frank recently called Brentford a selling club, as they prepare to receive interest in their talisman.
Newcastle United’s most expensive signing ever amid Mbeumo concern
While Newcastle United officials love the idea of bringing Mbeumo to St James’ Park, there are no guarantees that they will be able to strike a deal.
The Telegraph state that the Cameroon international’s asking price will be more than £60million, with Newcastle wary that they may not be able to spend that much given their need to strengthen in other positions as well.
Newcastle want a centre-back, while a new goalkeeper is also seen as a priority.
It should come as no great surprise that the Magpies are going to have to break the bank if they are to sign Mbeumo. He could even become Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever.
| Newcastle United’s most expensive signings | Transfer fee |
| Alexander Isak | £63million |
| Sandro Tonali | £55million |
| Anthony Gordon | £45million |
That honour currently belongs to Alexander Isak, who cost £63million in 2022. That sum could be eclipsed, with Brentford wanting more than £60million for Mbeumo.
Despite the lofty asking price, Mbeumo ticks so many boxes for Newcastle. He can play centrally as well as out wide, which could negate the need for another striker to arrive. Newcastle want Liam Delap, who is available for £30million.
Mbeumo is also a proven Premier League player. He has been exceptional for Brentford, and has improved massively ever since Ivan Toney’s gambling ban and subsequent transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle know that Mbeumo will be expensive, and must decide if he is worth the outlay. For many supporters, he would be worth every penny.
