Eddie Howe further cemented himself as a Newcastle United legend on Sunday.

Despite losing to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, Newcastle United reached the Champions League once again.

Howe’s Newcastle qualified for the Champions League instead of Aston Villa on goal difference, after Unai Emery’s side lost to Manchester United.

Now, it’s time to build. Having already won the Carabao Cup prior to reaching the Champions League again, the mood feels positive.

Newcastle could have a summer transfer budget of £150million, which will be a huge boost to the Newcastle United manager.

Indeed, Howe wants Newcastle to sign players quickly, and more fresh insight has now emerged.

The four signings Eddie Howe now wants as “minimum” this summer

According to The Athletic, Howe wants four positions bolstered as a “minimum” this summer.

It’s claimed within the report that Newcastle will make at least £31million by reaching the Champions League, offering the club a huge financial boost.

While they still must keep the books balanced this summer, it seems players will indeed start signing for the club again. Having been unable to make any first-team signings last summer, that is a welcome relief.

It’s claimed that at a “minimum”, Howe wants to bring in a right-sided centre-half, a right-winger, a striker and a goalkeeper this summer.

The two transfer targets Newcastle United fans have been told to watch closely

Having achieved significant success with his current set-up, it’s incredible to think what Howe may be able to do when the Newcastle United squad is strengthened.

Making those additions would be a major boost. That would provide much-needed depth throughout the squad, which feels hugely important given the added games the Champions League brings.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle can do all that in one summer. The transfer window can be difficult and little about what the owners have done thus far indicates they are prepared to overspend.

Still, Newcastle fans have been told to watch what happens with Marc Guehi and James Trafford this summer.

They were both linked with the club before the start of this season but remained at Crystal Palace and Burnley respectively.
