Just days after the Carabao Cup win at Wembley, reports claimed Newcastle are leading the race for Mbeumo with the Brentford star identified as a perfect fit for Howe’s side.

Mbeumo has been in scintillating form this season with 16 Premier League goals to his name, but he had a moment to forget when he slipped and opened the door for Isak to score the opener.

However, Newcastle fans on social media were loving every minute of it.

One supporter on X wrote: “Welcome to Newcastle Mbeumo,” while another added: “Mbeumo giving us that goal there with that slip. Mbeumo to the Toon”

Others joked about Mbeumo kickstarting his strike partnership with Isak: “Mbeumo assist to Isak.. foreshadowing there.”

One fan even joked that it should count as Mbeumo’s first goal for Newcastle: “Petition to change it to Mbeumo’s first career goal for Newcastle? He’ll add to that tally when he’s on our right next season”

Newcastle United continue push to sign Bryan Mbeumo

When the summer transfer window opens, Newcastle’s top priority is a new right winger, especially after Miguel Almiron departed in January.

Newcastle are long-term admirers of Mbeumo and were heavily linked with a move in January. However, Brentford wanted £60m for Mbeumo if they were going to part ways with him midway through the season.
