Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier has been linked with a move away this summer.
Indeed, despite being the first and perhaps most important signing of the PIF era, Trippier has been touted for a Newcastle exit for a while now.
The 33-year-old reportedly agreed a move to Bayern Munich in January but ultimately stayed at St James’ Park during a difficult season-half of the season.
While he’s suggested he wants to stay, clubs in Saudi Arabia are said to be keen on a move for the veteran, while decision-makers on Tyneside are seemingly unlikely to stand in his way should he look to leave.
However, little can be read into his recent trip to Newcastle Airport, with the England star simply afforded some time off after reaching the Euro 2024 final with the Three Lions.
Now, some insight into what Eddie Howe thinks about the matter has emerged.

What happened in a meeting between Eddie Howe and Kieran Trippier this week
According to The Times, the Newcastle head coach met the defender earlier this week to tell Trippier he would like him to stay at the club this summer.
In fact, Trippier was even said to have been told talks over a new contract would start soon, albeit the change in structure is said to have caused that plan to go somewhat off the rails.
Kieran Trippier should leave Newcastle this summer
Such has been his impact since signing for the club, it’s only natural that Howe would want Trppier to stay.
However, new sporting director Paul Mitchell is believed to want to sell senior players where possible in order to reduce the average age of the squad.
With that in mind, getting at least some money for a player who has shown signs of decline in recent months does make sense on the financial front, even if Trippier deserves recognition for what he’s done for the club.
