A pretty miserable month or so continues for Newcastle United.
Yet to sign anyone during the January transfer window, it seems a key player is ready to leave Newcastle.
Indeed, Kieran Trippier has been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich of late, albeit Eddie Howe is thought to want to keep the £12m veteran.
Saturday, however, brought some developments.
Kieran Trippier to Bayern Munich: Newcastle star agrees move
According to respected German reporter Florian Plettenberg on X (formerly Twitter), Trippier has agreed a deal with the German giants.
For their part, those at the Allianz Arena are said to prefer the idea of signing Nordi Mukiele on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, although there is an understanding that deal could collapse.
Trippier, then, is believed to be Bayern’s Plan B and is keen to join the Bundesliga champions, who recently added former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier to their squad, along with Harry Kane in the summer.

Kieran Trippier: Newcastle may need to sell
FFP constraints are thought to be frustrating those behind the scenes at Newcastle.
With that in mind, difficult decisions will have to be made.
While Trippier has been an excellent signing for the club, perhaps it’s time to go. At his best, he has been hailed as defensively “nasty” by Alan Shearer and his ability going forward can hardly be questioned.
Still, the player himself has admitted he’s not been up to standard of late. At 33 years of age, is that going to change? He’s certainly got enough pedigree to suggest he can come back but it’s a risk all the same.
Moving those wages off the books and potentially getting a fee for a player surely coming towards the end of his top level career does make a lot of financial sense, as difficult as it would be to see a player who has given so much to Newcastle go.
