A big summer could lie ahead for Newcastle United.
While FFP constraints are believed to have frustrated those behind the scenes at Newcastle during the January transfer window, reports from iNews last month predicted a major overhaul at St James’ Park.
Indeed, supporters were told to brace themselves for some big-name incomings, which is certainly exciting.
One name to have been touted as a target is actually a former Newcastle player in Ivan Toney.
The club’s scouting department are believed to be keen on the Brentford forward, who even Bees boss Thomas Frank admits will likely be sold reasonably soon.
Still, signing a player of that calibre – one hailed as “special” by his manager – will not be easy.
Ivan Toney transfer news: Simon Jordan predicts transfer fee
Quizzed on how much money Toney could realistically go for this summer, talkSPORT pundit and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan said: “At free market, with some of the well-heeled buyers in it, I would suspect probably £70m.”

Ivan Toney to Newcastle: Transfer unlikely
While a new forward is thought to be on the agenda for Newcastle this summer, signing Toney looks difficult.
The likes of Arsenal have been linked with a move and could offer him the chance to play Champions League football next season. Chelsea have been touted as a landing spot too and even if they are not playing in Europe’s elite club competition, the Blues do have previous in landing big players without that on offer.
Unless Newcastle can offer Champions League football, it is difficult to imagine them rivalling such clubs at this relatively early stage of the PIF era.
Throw in the fact Alexander Isak won’t be sold too and it’s hard to see PIF paying such big money for another forward who would surely want to start week in, week out.
Signing Toney to potentially replace Callum Wilson would be a statement move but it just does not look realistic right now.
