Newcastle United owners PIF may end up funding at least part of a fresh bid from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak.
Liverpool had a bid rejected for Isak, who wants to leave Newcastle United this summer.
While there had been suggestions that Liverpool doubted that they could afford Isak, another offer for the Sweden striker could be on the way at some point.
Newcastle value Isak at around £150million and it remains to be seen if the Reds can get up to that level. Even if they do, however, it’s not an absolute certainty that he will depart as Newcastle will not sell Isak without signing a replacement.
Clearly, an offer of around £150million would no doubt give PIF a decision to make. That is record-breaking money for a player who wants to leave the club.
Strangely enough, the Newcastle United owners might actually help Liverpool get there.

PIF want to bring Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabia
According to BBC Sport, the Newcastle ownership are looking to bring Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez to one of their clubs in the Saudi Pro League. His sale could potentially help the Premier League champions raise further funds in a fresh move for Isak.
As well as Newcastle, PIF own Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli.
The report claims that intermediaries are “actively working” on a deal to get the Uruguay forward to leave Anfield and move to the Middle East.
It also claims that there is still some uncertainty as to whether Nunez wants to move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career.
Why PIF are looking to sign Darwin Nunez from Liverpool
Al-Hilal want to make a statement signing this summer, after reaching the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Newcastle star Isak was linked with a move there, with reports suggesting he was offered a stunning £600k-per-week tax-free deal.
Still, Isak does not want to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career, presumably because of his standing as one of the best forwards in world football.
As such, it seems the Saudi club have turned to other big-name strikers after Isak’s rejection.
