Newcastle United would be foolish to sell Alexander Isak this summer.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest forwards in football right now, Isak is already a Newcastle United legend after scoring the goal that won them the Carabao Cup last month.
Newcastle paid a club-record £63million for Isak in the summer of 2022 and, frankly, that looks a bargain.
Such has been the level of his form over the last two seasons, Isak has been described as “world class”.
Indeed, there’s also no suggestion he’s looking to leave St James’ Park despite constant links with a move away. Liverpool want to sign Isak, while Arsenal have constantly been touted as a landing spot.
Miguel Delaney of The Independent recently suggested Isak is set to stay at Newcastle this summer, while The Daily Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has provided another interesting update.

Alexander Isak’s price tag grows at Newcastle United
Back in December, it was claimed that Newcastle had set a price tag of £150million on Isak.
Certainly, that looks prohibitive enough in a world in which teams are dealing with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
However, it seems the price tag may actually have been raised since last summer, which of course would not be all that surprising given just how good the 25-year-old has been.
On social media platform X, Edwards claimed that it would take an offer worth £150million just to get a conversation started about potentially selling Isak.
Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United contract and salary
Isak is under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2028.
While Bruno Guimaraes is Newcastle’s highest-paid player, the Sweden star is also in that bracket right now at a reported £120k-per-week.
| Games | Goals | Assists | Trophies won |
| 106 | 61 | 10 | 1 |
That could soon increase, however, should the club agree a new deal with him.
Isak could sign a new contract worth £200k-per-week, albeit that has obviously yet to have been confirmed.
While huge sums of money of course, it’d be difficult to argue that the striker doesn’t deserve that. He’s made the £63million spent on signing him look remarkably cheap, after all.
