Newcastle United would have to smash Premier League record to sign ‘incredible’ forward this summer

Newcastle United have learned the asking price of one of their top summer transfer targets.

After several frustrating transfer windows with very little movement, Newcastle United look set to invest this summer.

The Profit and Sustainability Rules have ruined Newcastle’s transfer plans recently, but the Magpies made a net profit last summer and in January to set up a big spending spree.

Sporting director Paul Mitchell wants three new signings at Newcastle this summer to strengthen Eddie Howe’s side.

A right winger will be at the top of Newcastle’s shopping list, especially after Miguel Almiron was sold in January.

Newcastle United told £100m Tyler Dibling asking price

Southampton star Tyler Dibling is one of Newcastle’s top targets after his breakthrough season at St Mary’s.

Newcastle have scouted Dibling regularly and have been long-term admirers having watched him at youth level.

Previous reports have suggested that Newcastle will have to pay £50m for Tyler Dibling in the summer, but that no longer seems to be the case.

That is because The Telegraph report that Southampton will demand a fee of over £100million – yes, you read that right – for Dibling this summer.

Newcastle could consider a swap deal for Dibling to help lower the fee required, but Southampton’s asking price will likely cause Mitchell to look elsewhere.

Newcastle United have to smash record to sign Tyler Dibling

Newcastle are certainly not the only Premier League outfit looking to sign the Saints winger this summer with Tottenham sharing an interest in Dibling.

If Newcastle wanted to jump ahead in the race for Dibling by meeting Southampton’s £100m asking price, it would smash a Premier League record.

Dibling, who has been described as a player with “incredible potential” by manager Ivan Juric, would become the most expensive teenager in Premier League history if he was sold for a nine-figure fee.

Romeo Lavia currently holds the record after leaving Southampton to join Chelsea for £52m aged just 19.

Dibling would also smash Newcastle’s club transfer record, which is currently the £63m spent on Alexander Isak in 2023.
