Newcastle United scouts are doing their homework ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies are going to be busy in the transfer market ahead of the 2025/26 season, with Eddie Howe’s squad desperately in need of reinforcements.

Newcastle will not have a limitless transfer budget, but the January exits of Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly mean that the club is in a much stronger position financially.

Loose plans are already in place for the summer. Newcastle want at least three signings, with Paul Mitchell aiming to bring in a right winger, a centre-back and a striker.

Newcastle United scouted Tyler Dibling on Saturday

The most exciting signing will hopefully be the winger, with Eddie Howe needing a game-changing player to join Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in attack.

One player who fits the bill is Tyler Dibling, who continues to impress in a Southampton shirt.

Newcastle are interested in Dibling, and TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Toon scouts watched the 19-year-old on Saturday during Southampton’s defeat to Bournemouth.

“Dibling will be on the move this summer, and Newcastle United like him a lot,” he said.

“He can play as a number 10 as well as out wide, which is something that Newcastle need. It is something they are crying out for. He is a brilliant young player.

“He will be on the move. He won’t sign a new deal at Southampton. Newcastle like him and they watched him at the weekend.”

How much Tyler Dibling will cost Newcastle United

The Magpies know all about the teenage attacker. Newcastle wanted Dibling when he was 16-years-old, and have continued to track his progress.

Now he is impressing in the Premier League, which ultimately means he will cost a lot of money.

“Southampton want £50million for Dibling,” Bailey added.

“People may scoff at that figure, but Southampton got £58million out of Chelsea for Romeo Lavia, and I think Dibling does have a higher ceiling.

“Dibling, at 19-years-old, could be the next Cole Palmer. I think £50million is about right.

“If he goes to Newcastle and plays well, he could be in the England squad very quickly. He will choose sensibly, with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa also interested. Leipzig and Dortmund like him as well.”

If the Magpies were to sign Dibling for £50million, he would become Newcastle’s third most expensive signing ever.

Given his age and clear potential, many will argue that it could be money well spent. Alternatively, it is a huge amount to pay for a player who is still in his debut campaign as a Premier League player.
