Newcastle United are long-term admirers of Southampton winger Tyler Dibling.
Despite Southampton having a poor season in the Premier League, 18-year-old Tyler Dibling has shone on the south coast.
So far this season, the winger has made 20 league appearances, scoring twice. Dibling is out injured at the moment, so did not feature in Newcastle United’s win against Southampton on Saturday. Fans would have liked to have seen him in action to get a taste of what they may have in the near future.
Newcastle want to sign Dibling who would now be seen as a replacement for Miguel Almiron. The 30-year-old is wrapping up a move back to Atlanta United so Eddie Howe is in need of more depth in that position.
While it looked as if Newcastle would only need to pay £21m for Dibiling – recent reports have suggested that Dibling will cost Newcastle £55m in January.
With the Magpies now in desperate need of a winger – recent words from a journalist now suggest how Dibling actually feels about a move in January.

Tyler Dibling likely to stay at Southampton until the summer
Dibling is undoubtedly having a breakthrough season at Southampton. The winger made one short appearance during their season in the Championship but former head coach Russell Martin and current Saints boss Ivan Juric see something in the 18-year-old.
With clubs across Europe keen to sign the youngster, Ben Jacobs has now confirmed that a move in the summer looks to be more likely than one before the January transfer window closes on Sunday.
Talking on the NUFC Matters Transfer Show, Jacobs was asked about a possible move for Dibling in January.
He said: “Regarding Tyler Dibling, I think you’ve got Newcastle and Tottenham, both credible suitors.
“There might be a possibility that someone tries their luck knowing that this is the maximum valuation that Southampton are going to get. But I would be very surprised because I’ve got a fair sense of the player.
“I know he went to Cobham and felt that was a little bit of a pressure cooker – didn’t like it there, didn’t want to move too soon and came back to Southampton.
“I think he realises that he is in a breakthrough season at the moment, and I would expect Tyler Dibling to put the breaks on in January and it might be more one there for the summer.
“I think the situation with Newcastle is that there is a historical interest, they know that currently, the valuation of Southampton is in the region of £55 or even £60m which is far too high for Newcastle to be paying. I don’t see this one happening now, but what I would say is that come the summer I would expect Newcastle to be in the mix.”
Newcastle’s historical interest in Tyler Dibling
While Newcastle have looked at signing Dibling in January – the Magpies’ interest in him goes back to 2022.
Former sporting director Dan Ashworth wanted Dibling at Newcastle when he was just 16 years old. Sadly, a move failed to materialise, and Dibling joined Chelsea instead.
His time in the capital was short-lived, however. Dibling returned to Southampton after struggling with the move away.
Even if Howe or the current sporting director Paul Mitchell wanted Dibling, it would be a hard deal to get over the line due to his injury. Dibling is expected to be out for six weeks due to a problem he picked up against Manchester United earlier in January.
While a January move looks unlikely, Dibling will certainly be one to watch over a potential move to Tyneside in the summer.
