Newcastle United fans are still hoping that the club can complete one or two major signings before the transfer window closes.

It could be a blistering end to the summer transfer window for Newcastle United, as sporting director Paul Mitchell has a lot of work to do.

The Marc Guehi situation is still ongoing. Newcastle have made three bids for Guehi, but the 24-year-old is yet to get the green light to leave Crystal Palace and head up north.

He appears to be Newcastle’s priority right now, but the Magpies also have their eye on a winger.

Newcastle linked with Noni Madueke

Most of Newcastle’s targets have either gone elsewhere or are unattainable. However, the hope is that Noni Madueke does not fall into either category.

The 22-year-old could be on his way out of Chelsea, with Newcastle interested in signing Madueke.

He would be an interesting addition to Eddie Howe’s squad, with Newcastle weighing up an approach for Madueke.

How Newcastle feel internally about Noni Madueke

It has been reported that Eddie Howe is a fan of Madueke, but it remains to be seen if they will get the chance to work together.

However, a new report states that he ticks two important boxes when it comes to Newcastle United’s recruitment.

According to iNews, Newcastle believe that Madueke has a lot of potential, while they also see him as a player who improves the first-team at St James’ Park. They add that those are two ‘non-negotiables’ when it comes to the Magpies’ recruitment this summer.

A lot of dominoes need to fall for Newcastle to sign £29m winger

While Madueke fits the profile of what Newcastle are looking for, there are a lot of obstacles to overcome before the £29million man possibly ends up on Tyneside.

Firstly, Newcastle need to finalise what is happening with Guehi. They either need to meet Crystal Palace’s demands, or move on to another target. Either way, this state of limbo means that Newcastle do not know how much money they can commit towards a winger.

Once that is done, they can determine whether someone needs to leave Newcastle before another signing can arrive. PSR could force Newcastle to sell before they buy, with the likes of Miguel Almiron and Kieran Trippier linked with St James’ Park departures.

When those obstacles are overcome, Newcastle can finally go about agreeing a deal with Chelsea and Madueke. It remains to be seen how much the winger will cost, and whether he is actually keen on joining the Magpies.

You would like to think he would be, as it would give him the chance to really kick on and reach his potential under the guidance of Eddie Howe. In contrast, he is falling down the Chelsea pecking order following the arrival of Pedro Neto from Wolves.

A lot needs to happen to make this deal happen, but Madueke to Newcastle is one to keep an eye on before the transfer window closes on August 30th.
