Newcastle United’s options at right wing look a little underwhelming ahead of the new Premier League season.
While Jacob Murphy has been in fine fettle during pre-season, Newcastle are reportedly chasing a new signing in that particular position.
Indeed, Miguel Almiron struggled to wholly convince last season and has been linked with moves away for what feels like an age now, although he now looks likely to stay at St James’ Park.
Quite whether the club will be able to bolster their wing options all while making a move for England defender Marc Guehi remains to be seen, with decision-makers on Tyneside understood to be frustrated about the level of impact PSR rules are having on their spending.
Still, plenty of names have been linked.
Pedro Neto was one but Chelsea landed the Portugal winger, although that could open the door for Newcastle.
Blues star Noni Madueke, hailed as “amazing” by former manager Mauricio Pochettino, has been touted as a target for a while.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update.

Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle have been keen on Noni Madueke for weeks now
The noted transfer expert revealed that the former PSV winger could yet leave Stamford Bridge should the right offer present itself, while adding that Newcastle have been tracking him for a number of weeks.
“Keep an eye on [Noni] Madueke, in case of some good proposals” he told the Here We Go Podcast.
“He’s not out of the project but with some good proposals, the situation of Madeuke could be open. For example, Newcastle have been showing interest for weeks.”
Newcastle may be stuck with their right wing options for a while
It would be amazing to see Newcastle strengthen at both centre-half and on the wing this summer.
The financial climate in the Premier League, however, may not allow for that.
With Guehi seemingly the primary target, the club actually having the money to convince Chelsea to strengthen a positional rival for the season ahead looks a reasonably remote possibility without making a sale themselves.
Unless they can change that or sell unwanted players soon, perhaps Newcastle may be stuck with their current options…
