Newcastle United’s summer transfer plans will be much more exciting than their business over the winter.
For a third successive window, Eddie Howe was denied any improvements to his starting lineup at Newcastle United.
Instead, Paul Mitchell’s focus was offloading players and raising cash for the summer so that those dreaded three letters – PSR – will be less relevant.
Miguel Almiron was sold to Atlanta United and combined with Lloyd Kelly’s loan move to Juventus, Newcastle raised just over £30m over the winter.
That will provide a significant boost to the summer budget, where Newcastle could splash the cash on several new signings – including a new striker.

Newcastle United offered Victor Osimhen deal
Callum Wilson made his return against Birmingham following a lengthy injury – it was actually his FA Cup debut in a Newcastle shirt.
He marked his return with a goal and, after the full-time whistle, Howe said Wilson can be “like a new signing” for Newcastle in the second half of the season.
William Osula also enjoyed a bright spell on the right wing with two assists to his name. The 21-year-old proved that he has plenty to offer this Newcastle side.
Wilson’s contract expires this year but Newcastle have the option to extend his deal. Regardless, at 32 years of age he is in the twilight years of his career and the Magpies will be on the lookout for a new star striker.
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle will be offered the chance to sign Victor Osimhen this summer when he returns to Napoli.
The “explosive” striker has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte and was loaned out to Galatasaray this season where he has scored a staggering 17 goals in 22 appearances.
Victor Osimhen available for just £60m this summer
Newcastle’s interest in Osimhen dates back to 2020 when PIF wanted to bring him to Newcastle before their takeover bid stalled.
A move in 2024 was also possible but Newcastle could not afford Osimhen’s £113m price tag – as per the release clause in his Napoli deal.
Frankly, neither could any other club – hence why he made the loan move to Turkey for the 2024/25 campaign.
But the Chronicle report from above claims Osimhen will be available in the summer for just £60m – almost half of his price from last summer.

That is because Napoli are keen to offload him with Romelu Lukaku now the main man up front for the Italian outfit.
There will no doubt be competition for his signature with Chelsea interested in Osimhen over the summer, but Newcastle’s improved summer budget means a deal could be pursued.
