Eddie Howe will be expecting some significant reinforcements to his squad in 2025 after some underwhelming transfer windows at Newcastle United.
It looked as though Newcastle were going to make a statement signing in the summer after chasing a £65m deal for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
However, sporting director Paul Mitchell walked away from the deal and also failed to bring in a right-sided winger despite a last-gasp £50m bid for Anthony Elanga.
It meant that Newcastle actually ended the summer with a net profit, which has ramped up expectations for lots of transfer business in 2025.
Newcastle will prioritise a right-sided winger in January, but interest remains in signing a centre-back as well as another centre-forward.

Newcastle offered chance to sign Victor Osimhen
Newcastle were linked with Victor Osimhen in 2023 after a remarkable season where he scored 31 goals in 39 games.
Osimhen ended up staying put in Napoli but fell out with Antonio Conte last season and made a loan move to Galatasaray this summer.
He made headlines this week after scoring twice in a 3-2 against Tottenham in the Europa League.
With his future at Napoli looking bleak, Osimhen is expected to make a permanent move in 2025 and the Premier League looks a likely destination.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are set to be offered the chance to sign Osimhen next summer.
Osimhen is “better than Haaland” according to his agent, and the 25-year-old’s representatives have included Newcastle in a list of Premier League clubs they feel could be interested in a deal.
Newcastle would have to rip up transfer plans for Victor Osimhen
Despite the lack of business in the summer, Newcastle still find themselves shackled by the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle are eager to strengthen multiple positions but will only have a limited budget to do so.
There is a £113m release clause in Osimhen’s contract, but it is claimed that Napoli would accept a much smaller fee to allow him to leave.
Osimhen was also earning £200,000 per week in his Napoli contract – a figure that would make him the highest-paid player at St James’ Park.
It is a huge opportunity for Newcastle to sign a world-class centre-forward and make a statement, but it would come at a huge cost, including missing out on other targets.
