Newcastle United have a big decision to make this month regarding Lloyd Kelly with transfer interest refusing to go away.
It has been a quiet January transfer window for Newcastle United so far, but the imminent sale of Miguel Almiron could get things underway.
Newcastle fans are impressed by the Almiron fee with the Magpies set to pocket up to £11m. Further sales could follow, including a potential exit for summer signing Lloyd Kelly.
Earlier this month, Newcastle rejected Fenerbahce’s bid for Kelly and now Juventus are pushing to sign the 26-year-old defender.
Juventus remain in talks over a deal for Kelly with the Italian giants keen to strike an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. Reports from Italy suggest a very interesting transfer fee.

How much Newcastle United could earn from Lloyd Kelly sale
Reports claim Newcastle value Kelly at £25.3m having signed him on a five-year deal as recently as this summer.
While Fenerbahce’s bid fell well below that asking price, it seems Juventus’ offer is much closer.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus are working on a loan-to-buy deal worth £17m (€20m). The obligation to buy will be triggered if Juve qualify for the Champions League.
As it stands, Juventus sit just outside of Champions League qualification spots in fifth place in Serie A.
A previous report from Tuttosport claims Newcastle and Howe are open to letting Kelly leave and would prefer a permanent deal. Juventus technical director Giuntoli is a big admirer of Kelly and has shared a long-term interest in bringing him to Italy.
What Eddie Howe has said about Lloyd Kelly’s future
Ahead of Newcastle’s win over Southampton, Eddie Howe commented on Kelly’s future. While reports from Italy suggest he is open to letting Kelly leave, his comments suggest otherwise.
“I’ve seen a little bit of the speculation on Lloyd. We’ve certainly not had any bid anywhere close to making the club make a decision on that,” Howe said.
“Lloyd’s an integral part of what we’re doing from my perspective. His challenge is to try and work his way into the team. He’s only just arrived, so I think he’s got a lot to achieve here.”

However, with Newcastle wary of PSR, a £17m deal for Kelly – on top of the £11m received for Almiron – would provide a huge boost to club finances.
Newcastle are set for a £73m PSR boost in the summer, and with sales this month it means the Magpies could heavily invest in the squad in 2025. Losing Kelly would make a centre-back a top priority, but the club already have a handful of targets in that position.
