Newcastle United have knocked back multiple bids for defender Lloyd Kelly in January.

Kelly has been a hot topic on Tyneside in the last week. Despite joining Newcastle on a free in the summer, Kelly could soon be on his way out of the club.

Two clubs have made approaches for Kelly in January. However, Newcastle have knocked them both back. Jose Mourninho’s Fenerbahce made an offer of around £6m+ for Kelly which was deemed nowhere near enough.

The Turkish side has now cooled their interest and are now set to sign former Newcastle target Diego Carlos from Aston Villa.

On Sunday, it was reported that Italian giants Juventus made a loan-to-buy offer for Kelly. Newcastle are also thought to have knocked that approach back.

Many Newcastle fans believe Kelly should be sold to generate pure profit for the club, so they can buy in January. The feeling around Tyneside is that Newcastle won’t make any signings in January. The only thing that would make them dip into the market is if there is a significant first-team injury.

With initial offers deemed not enough by Newcastle chiefs, a recent report has now stated how much Newcastle are demanding for Kelly.

Newcastle want £25.3m for Lloyd Kelly

Newcastle feels that if Kelly were to leave so soon after joining, they want to make sure it is worth their while.

Kelly has not made many appearances for the Magpies this season. The 26-year-old has played 13 games in all competitions this season, including nine in the Premier League.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Newcastle are asking for €30m (£25.3m) to let Kelly go on a permanent transfer in January.

The report suggests that Juventus see Kelly as a cheaper, better alternative to Newcastle-linked Fikayo Tomori who they are now reluctant to sign due to recent performances.

Although his start on Tyneside has been slow, Kelly has shown glimmers of quality for Newcastle this season. The Englishman bagged an assist in Newcastle’s win against Tottenham Hotspur in September.

Newcastle’s stance on Lloyd Kelly exit

Despite the interest and their need to sell to satisfy PSR. Newcastle are not looking to sell Kelly in January.

Eddie Howe was asked about the interest in Kelly in his pre-match press conference which aired on Newcastle’s website on Friday.

“Lloyd has not talked to me about leaving the football club,” he said.

“I think he’s only just joined and I think there’s an understanding from his perspective that he’s got to earn the right to play and prove that he deserves to play ahead of other players.

“So there’s been absolutely no issue. He’s been great to work with and I knew he would be. He’s waiting for his opportunities, so there’s no issue with Lloyd at all.

“Lloyd’s an important part of what we’re doing.”

Kelly is contracted to Newcastle until 2029 and is a likely alternative to Lewis Hall at left-back should anything happen to him before the end of the season.
