What Juventus are set to offer Newcastle United for Lloyd Kelly in the hope of pushing through a deal

Newcastle United have rejected multiple approaches for Lloyd Kelly in recent days.

Sporting director Paul Mitchell has been busy from an outgoings perspective, but not so much when it comes to arrivals.

Miguel Almiron is set to leave Newcastle imminently to move back to his former club Atlanta United and Martin Dubravka is officially staying at Newcastle after it looked like he was moving to Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

Jose Mourinho managed Fenerbahce offered around £6m for Kelly which was deemed far too low for the defender. The Turkish side are now set to sign Diego Carlos from Aston Villa.

On Sunday, Juventus approached Newcastle with a loan bid for Kelly. Newcastle swiftly rejected the bid.

Now, a new report has stated what Juventus are now planning to do after having their first approach knocked back.

Juventus table loan-to-buy offer for Lloyd Kelly

Kelly only joined the club in the summer but has struggled for regular game time under Toon boss Eddie Howe who he previously worked with at Bournemouth.

According to TuttoSport, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Guintoli has been a long-term admirer of Kelly and has not been put off by Newcastle’s reluctance.

Juventus are in need of a new centre-back following lengthy injury setbacks to Bremer and Juan Cabal. The Old Lady targeted Newcastle-linked Fikayo Tomori, but it looks like they have their sights fully set on Kelly.

The report states that negotiations are ongoing, and Juve are now working on an initial loan move with the obligation to buy at around £12.6m.

This offer already feels low, as on Monday it was reported that Newcastle want around £25m for Kelly who is contracted to the club until 2029.

As it stands, Juve are waiting for Newcastle to respond to their latest approach.

Kelly’s feeling about Newcastle exit

While there is interest around Europe for the 26-year-old, Kelly himself is not looking to leave Newcastle in a hurry.

As well as that, Howe is reluctant to lose another defender in the transfer window. Newcastle recently confirmed that Alex Murphy has joined Bolton on loan so it leaves the Magpies without many bodies in defence.

In addition to that, Jamaal Lascelles is not due back from injury until March. If Kelly were to leave, Newcastle would be down to the bare bones in defence.

Although Kelly is not playing as much for Newcastle this season, there is still the chance that he could become a regular starter in the coming seasons.
