A Premier League rival has already reached out to Newcastle United with a transfer opportunity.

While Eddie Howe is expecting a quiet January at Newcastle United, a lot could change over the next month.

After beating Ipswich Town 4-0, Howe said Newcastle “need to concentrate on the players we do have and get the very best out of them.”

Unfortunately, the Profit and Sustainability Rules have stopped Newcastle from improving their squad in the past few windows, and it seems financial problems will be the hot topic over January too.

There is money to spend this month with sporting director Paul Mitchell handed a £70m budget. But any big signings will likely rely on sales being made to avoid a potential points deduction this summer.

Newcastle want to sign a right winger if an opportunity presents itself, and a Premier League star has now been offered to them at a bargain price.

Manchester United offer Antony to Newcastle United

Newcastle ended 2024 by beating Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford. Newcastle climbed to fifth in the Premier League table after that result, while the Red Devils slumped down to 14th.

A January exodus is expected at Old Trafford and Caught Offside report that Antony has been offered to Newcastle.

Antony was signed by Manchester United for a staggering £81m, but he has failed to live up to that price tag and is now expected to leave in January for a hugely discounted price.

The report claims Ajax, Juventus, Benfica and Newcastle have all been offered the chance to sign Antony with Ajax and Juventus open to a loan offer.

Antony has scored 12 goals in 94 appearances for Manchester United, including only one this season.

Newcastle United have better winger options than Antony

There are several wingers on Newcastle’s radar with Bryan Mbeumo a “dream” signing for the Magpies.

Brentford want £50m for Mbeumo which might prove to be too expensive for Newcastle in January, but there are other options for Mitchell and Co. to consider.

Johan Bakayoko is a top target for Newcastle but a summer deal looks more likely with PSV Eindhoven wanting to keep hold of the winger until at least the end of the season.

After a £50m deadline day bid in the summer was rejected, Newcastle remain interested in Anthony Elanga, who has been superb for Nottingham Forest this season.

Again, though, Forest are unlikely to part ways with Elanga given they are chasing Champions League qualification this season.
