Newcastle United are exploring other ways of landing their top transfer targets in the January transfer window.
The Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules have shackled Newcastle United’s spending in recent transfer windows and threaten to do the same in January.
Eddie Howe warned that Newcastle may have to sell in order to balance their books in what could be another frustrating window for the Magpies.
However, Newcastle do have money to spend in January if an opportunity becomes available, and it is quickly becoming clear who their top target is.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is Newcastle’s “dream” target in January with Eddie Howe eager to strengthen at right wing.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo
Newcastle are prioritising a right winger in January and Bryan Mbeumo is at the top of their list.
The 25-year-old has been in superb form for Brentford this season, scoring eight goals in 12 appearances which ranks him second in the Premier League top scorers list behind only Erling Haaland.
Newcastle fans are eager to sign Mbeumo after watching him in action this season, but he is one of Brentford’s most prized assets.
Reports suggest that Brentford will sell Mbeumo for £50m in January but that is a hefty fee for Newcastle who are still wrestling to get their PSR books in order.
Callum Wilson could be involved in Bryan Mbeumo swap deal
Instead of directly matching Brentford’s asking price for Mbeumo, it seems Newcastle are now exploring alternative options.
According to The Sun, Newcastle are prepared to include Callum Wilson in a potential deal for Mbeumo with Liverpool also showing an interest in signing the Brentford star.
