Newcastle United are dreaming of a deal for Bryan Mbeumo during the January transfer window.

The Magpies are looking to enhance their squad in early 2025, with Newcastle set to prioritise signing a right winger.

That is understandable, as no one has made that position their own so far this season. Neither Jacob Murphy or Miguel Almiron have stood out, increasing the need for Newcastle to bring in reinforcements.

It has been reported that Bryan Mbeumo is Newcastle’s dream signing. It is easy to see why when you look at the 25-year-old’s stats this season. He has scored eight goals in nine Premier League games, with Mbeumo impressing pundit Troy Deeney with his brace against Ipswich on Saturday.

For many fans, Mbeumo would be the perfect signing for Newcastle. However, the issue could be the price, with the Magpies still mindful of PSR.

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Mbeumo is on Newcastle’s radar, but a deal for the Cameroon international will not be cheap.

Now TalkSPORT have provided an update on the Magpies’ pursuit of the forward, with Liverpool also keeping an eye on Brentford’s main man.

According to TalkSPORT, Brentford have set an asking price of £50million for Bryan Mbeumo.

Where Mbeumo would rank among Newcastle’s most expensive signings

A price of £50million is surely not beyond the realms of possibility for Newcastle United. They were trying to spend more than that on Marc Guehi over the summer, only for that deal to collapse.

If Paul Mitchell did sign Mbeumo for around £50million, he would become one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever. He would replace Anthony Gordon in third place, with the 23-year-old costing up to £45million in 2023.

The Magpies will fear that Mbeumo’s price tag will only rise if he continues this hot streak in front of goal.

That could prove to be problematic, as Newcastle United are already very mindful about not overspending due to PSR.

It has been reported by the Telegraph that a January deal for Mbeumo would mean that Newcastle need to sell again in the summer. That could create another uncomfortable situation for Toon officials, as this summer they had to cash in on Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, despite wanting to keep both players at St James’ Park.
