Newcastle United are eyeing up potential Marc Guehi alternatives ahead of the transfer deadline.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Marc Guehi has been made no secret this summer.
The Magpies first announced their interest in the England international on August 2nd, three weeks later though no deal is yet to be agreed.
Newcastle have had four bids rejected for Guehi and Eddie Howe’s side now look likely to walk away from the deal ahead of the August 30th deadline.
As Toon supporter’s hopes of signing the defender seemingly fade away, the Magpies are now reportedly lining up a number of alternatives.

Newcastle keeping tabs on Andreas Christensen
As the Geuhi transfer saga rages on, Newcastle are reportedly keeping one eye on Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen.
That is according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, who claim the Magpies hold a ‘strong’ interest in the defender.
The former Chelsea man was left on the bench for Hansi Flick’s first competitive game as Barcelona boss, with the German opting to play 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi instead, sparking doubt over the Dane’s future.
Christensen was linked to Newcastle last summer and the Magpies could return for the 28-year-old this time around, with the Champions League-winning defender potentially providing Eddie Howe with some top-level experience in the backline.
Director of Football Paul Mitchell may, however, be deterred from any potential move due to the center-half’s age, as Newcastle search for a long-term Fabian Schar replacement.
Joe Gomez could be Newcastle’s Guehi alternative
Another name that could be seen as a more viable option to Guehi, is Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.
Newcastle were close to signing Gomez before the July PSR deadline, in a deal that would have seen Anthony Gordon go the other way, with the Liverpool man said to be keen on the move.
The Magpies could now reignite their interest in the 27-year-old, following news that the defender is ‘looking at options’ in the final weeks of the window.
Having been left out of Liverpool’s matchday squad versus Ipswich Town, Gomez could potentially be a bargain pick-up for the Toon Army as Arne Slot seemingly deems him surplus to requirements.
The England international is capable of playing at both centre-back and full-back which could provide Eddie Howe cover across the defensive third.
One worry though which Paul Mitchell will no doubt consider, is Gomez’s worrying injury record, with the Liverpool man missing 246 games through injury since arriving on Merseyside (stats from Transfermarkt).
