Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Brentford to sign Yoane Wissa for a fee of £55m, including add-ons.

With Alexander Isak in Liverpool for his medical, the Magpies have now found their second striker they were hoping for in Yoane Wissa.

The 28-year-old has been pushing for the move for months and has now finally got his wish on deadline day. Newcastle United have agreed a fee for Wissa, who is already on Tyneside for his medical ahead of the move.

Wissa will be the second striker to join Newcastle over the last few days, with Nick Woltemade’s club record deal confirmed on Saturday.

With the DR Congo international soon to be announced, a new transfer report has shared details around how the deal is structured.

Newcastle United deal structure shared as Yoane Wissa takes medical

Geordie Boot Boys were told that Wissa travelled to Newcastle on Sunday evening, despite only being given permission by Brentford on Monday morning.

Wissa was desperate to join Newcastle, turning down interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur to move to the North East. His contract length is yet to be revealed, but it has been confirmed that Brentford have included a 25% sell-on clause in the deal for Wissa.

That is according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Newcastle are paying as much as £55m for the forward, but the deal is being split up between now and 2026.

The report states that Newcastle are paying half of the deal now, and the remaining half will be paid in 2026. It is an interesting way to structure the deal, but it makes more sense from a PSR perspective to keep them above board.

Once announced, Wissa will become Newcastle’s sixth senior signing of the summer.

When can Yoane Wissa make his debut for Newcastle United

Despite Isak’s departure, fans must agree that Newcastle have had a very promising transfer window. Eddie Howe’s recruitment team have remained confident they can get deals done after suffering early setbacks with the likes of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, signing quality alternatives.

The Magpies have now spent over £250m in the window with Wissa’s fee included, a promising figure given they had not made a major addition to the starting XI for nearly two years.

Newcastle still have time to make another signing, with reports stating that business is not completely over. Reports last week suggested that Newcastle want a new central midfielder, but they are very much against the clock to get a deal done.

In the meantime, Wissa will soon be announced as a Newcastle player, but fans must wait two weeks before seeing him at St James’ Park. The international break is underway, so Newcastle’s next Premier League game will be against Wolves at home.

Newcastle will be in action in the Carabao Cup the week after against Bradford at St James’ Park, so one of Wissa or Woltemade could lead the line for that game.
