Newcastle United are suddenly set to secure a replacement for Alexander Isak.
The Magpies have put themselves under huge pressure on transfer deadline day, agreeing to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool.
The 25-year-old is getting his wish of a move to Anfield, without Newcastle United guaranteeing a replacement coming in.
Newcastle are pushing to sign a striker on deadline day, with the Yoane Wissa saga still ongoing. There could now be a conclusion, and it is potentially a positive one for Eddie Howe.

Yoane Wissa to Newcastle United set to happen on deadline day
It was reported on Monday morning that Newcastle are more likely to sign Wissa than Jorgen Strand Larsen on transfer deadline day.
That could now be more true than ever, with Fabrizio Romano providing a huge update on the Magpies’ pursuit of the DR Congo international.
Romano has written on X: “Yoane Wissa to Newcastle, here we go! Deal verbally agreed right now between the clubs. Fee worth £55m package. Brentford accept formal proposal from #NUFC and Wissa on his way for medical later today. After Isak gone, Wissa and Woltemade join for Eddie Howe.”
This update comes after Wissa released a statement on his future, claiming that Brentford had promised he could leave the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.
The 28-year-old wants to join Newcastle, but there were fears he would not get his wish. However, that could now change before 7pm.
- Who is Yoane Wissa? Newcastle United’s £55m Alexander Isak replacement
Yoane Wissa’s perfect shirt number is waiting for him at Newcastle United
If Wissa does join Newcastle United, it feels obvious what shirt number he will wear.
It was previously reported that Wissa wants to be Newcastle’s number nine, and it is very much available despite Nick Woltemade’s arrival.
The expectation was that the new club-record signing would take the number nine shirt, but that has not proven to be the case. Woltemade is Newcastle’s number 27, choosing that number because it is the date his mother was born.
That leaves the iconic number nine shirt for Wissa, should he complete a dramatic deadline day transfer from Brentford to Newcastle United.
There will be delight on Tyneside if he does arrive, as not signing an Isak replacement would be an absolute disaster.
