Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool is finally happening and Newcastle United have been told they’re letting him go for a ‘bargain.’
It’s transfer deadline day and it’s all happening at Newcastle United, with the sagas of the summer finally reaching conclusions.
Newcastle have at last reached a breakthrough in their chase for a striker, with a fee finally being agreed for Yoane Wissa.
Newcastle will pay a massive £55m to sign Wissa from Brentford, who is set to undergo a medical and seal his move.
However, after standing firm on their stance of £150m or nothing all summer, Newcastle have relented and accepted a £125m bid from Liverpool for Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker is getting his way after refusing to play for the club and throwing Eddie Howe’s season preparations into chaos.
Newcastle will receive a British record transfer fee, but Tim Sherwood still thinks it’s a bargain for Liverpool.

Tim Sherwood drops his Alexander Isak to Liverpool verdict
Speaking on Sky Sports News on deadline day, former manager Sherwood revealed he feels sorry for Howe but always expected the deal to go through.
“It’s happening and I said all along I thought it would happen,” he said.
“It was just a matter of time when they got it done. Obviously, there’s a lot of stalling there from Newcastle because they want the best price for the player, Liverpool wanted to get him as low as possible.
“Looks like it’s going to be £125m. I think it’s good money and I think it’s a bargain if he can produce what he’s produced for Newcastle.
“Feel sorry for Eddie Howe, but unfortunately, that’s life as a manager. Sometimes your best players have to leave the football club. It’s a business as well as a passion for a lot of them fans.
“His time was up, unfortunately. He feels like he’s outgrown the club, in his mind.
“He’s going to the champions; it’s an opportunity for him to leave. He made it very clear he wanted to leave; he had promises, we have to take his word for that, that he could leave the football club and he’s decided that now is the time.”
Newcastle United spending to soar past £250m mark
Despite their struggles after missing out on several top targets, Newcastle have spent massively this summer.
In fact, Wissa’s arrival will take the outlay for the window up to £260m, by far the most PIF have spent in a single window since buying the club in 2021.
However, with the money raised from Isak, as well as the sales of Sean Longstaff, Lloyd Kelly and Martin Dubravka, the club’s net spend is less than £100m.
That still leaves some wiggle room within PSR to get fans even more excited with some possible last-minute additions.
