January could well be the end of the road for some Newcastle United players.
While it would seem extremely unlikely that any of the club’s most prized assets will be allowed to leave mid-season, it doesn’t mean Newcastle won’t be selling players.
Kieran Trippier, after all, has been linked with a move away from the club for a while and there were recently suggestions fresh interest in the defender had emerged from AC Milan.
Interestingly, Trippier may not be the only one to potentially go.
Indeed, Craig Hope of The Daily Mail shared a fresh update in regards to a certain Miguel Almiron – a player previously hailed as “unbelievable” by manager Eddie Howe.
Newcastle may have to cut their losses on Miguel Almiron amid fresh interest
Only last month, there were claims suggesting Newcastle had told Almiron’s agents that he would only be allowed to leave the club if their valuation of around £15million was met.
Clubs in Brazil, Turkey and the United States were all said to have been keen, with Almiron understood to have snubbed the idea of a move to Saudi Arabia during the summer.

Still, Hope revealed during a Q&A with supporters that Almiron could in fact leave St James’ Park in January – but Newcastle may have to accept they may not get more than £10million for him.
“There’ll have to be a realisation with Almiron that they’ve probably missed the boat for bringing in somewhere north of £10million, but we’ll have to wait and see,” Hope said on a video posted on YouTube.
“He’s certainly one I think we could see movement on in January.”
Newcastle should take the money and run for Miguel Almiron
Out of contract in the summer of 2026, Newcastle should sell Almiron even if the money involved is some way off their valuation.
Almiron certainly deserves respect for turning his career around under Howe but the future on Tyneside looks bleak for him. Anthony Gordon and Joelinton have both been tried ahead of him on the right wing, limiting the Paraguay star to only 103 minutes of Premier League action this season.
What, really, is the point in haggling? In the summer, Almiron’s value will dip even further due to his dwindling contractual status anyway.
It’s time for Newcastle to cut their losses.
