Marc Guehi’s name is likely to be mentioned over and over again in conjunction with Newcastle United this summer.
Guehi, of course, remained a Crystal Palace player despite Newcastle United’s interest during the summer of 2024.
Newcastle failed to sign Guehi as Palace held firm, albeit the saga does not seem to be over.
Indeed, Newcastle are still interested in Guehi, although the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked.
Luckily for Toon supporters, a positive update has now emerged.

According to Give Me Sport, Eddie Howe’s personal interest in the defender could sway his thinking this summer.
It’s claimed Guehi could reject other offers due to a clear vision from the Newcastle United manager that he wishes to build his team around young and high-quality stars. Such a plan is said to be a “significant” draw.
Qualifying for the Champions League would also strengthen their hand, while the report adds that Newcastle are “serious” about launching a fresh attempt to sign the 24-year-old, and that there is an “increasing” belief an agreement at a reduced price could be reached.

Newcastle bid £65million for Guehi in August 2024, only to see Palace snub their offer.
That could come back to bite Eagles chairman Steve Parish this summer, however.
Obviously, it should be noted that Palace could win the FA Cup this season and it will go down as a hugely successful campaign regardless but potentially missing out on millions would be frustrating for the club.
Earlier this week, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey told Geordie Boot Boys that Guehi could be sold for £40million this summer.
“The expectation is it will be a deal below £50million, possibly around £40million,” he said.
Out of contract in the summer of 2026, there’s also the possibility that Guehi walks away from Selhurst Park as a free agent to consider…
