Newcastle United are expected to bolster their attacking options this summer.
While Eddie Howe’s side have been prolific at times this season, the club are reportedly likely to be on the hunt for attacking signings come the end of the season.
Both a central striker and wide forward options are thought to be on the agenda for Newcastle and interesting reports about a former transfer target have emerged.
Barcelona’s Raphinha was strongly linked with a move to St James’ Park last summer and there have now been fresh claims in Spain.
Raphinha transfer news: Newcastle latest
According to Sport, the Catalan giants could look to sell the Brazilian, who was hailed as “magic” during his time at Leeds.
They relay that Newcastle made an offer last summer and that the 26-year-old may be sold by Barca as they attempt to raise funds.
It is said only a big performance during the business end to the season could save Raphinha at this stage, albeit Newcastle may not have it easy should they go back in for him.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal are also thought to be interested.

Raphinha to Newcastle: Eddie Howe verdict
Newcastle have certainly shown a willingness to wait when it comes to making signings. Such is the long-term planning at the club, both Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon arrived during the windows after the ones in which they were initially targeted.
With that in mind, it wouldn’t be all too surprising to see them going back in for Raphinha.
He was, after all, described as Howe’s “dream signing” by the Daily Mail back in 2022. Given Miguel Almiron’s long-term future at the club is also unclear, perhaps the former Leeds star could finally arrive on Tyneside.
Barcelona’s loss may be Newcastle’s gain, just a year on from when was initially planned.
