With the January transfer window just weeks away, Newcastle United have been in the gossip pages lately, both for incomings and for outgoings.
Newcastle are in the race for the Premier League top four, and it would make sense for manager Eddie Howe to make additions to his squad to enhance the chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Paul Pogba has been linked with Newcastle. The Magpies are also monitoring Joel Ordonez with a view to a potential move.
Some squad players have been linked away from St. James’ Park too. Newcastle are ready to sell Callum Wilson in the January transfer window. Miguel Almiron could also leave.

How Arsenal could convince Alexander Isak to leave Newcastle United
One player that Newcastle will absolutely not want to lose in the middle of the season is Alexander Isak. He is a star at the club and is hugely important to how the Magpies fare this season. Ben Foster thinks Isak is ‘incredible”.
However, it seems that Newcastle may not have full control over the future of the Sweden international. GiveMeSport has reported that there is a chance that the 25-year-old could leave for Arsenal in January.
Arsenal are keeping close tabs on the situation of Isak and could make a bid for him. GMS has reported that Isak is putting ambition before money regarding his future.
If the Gunners make an offer of £200,000 per week to the striker, then they could be able to persuade him to make the move to the Emirates Stadium given that they are playing in the UEFA Champions League this season.
What Newcastle think of Isak’s situation
While Arsenal may feel that they could get Isak in the January transfer window, Newcastle themselves are not overly worried.
Newcastle believe that Isak is happy at the club and is willing to play his role in their long-term project. The two parties are in talks over a new deal, and there is no panic from the Premier League outfit about losing him in the middle of the campaign.
Isak has scored four goals and given two assists in nine Premier League games this season. The Swede found the back of the net 21 times and provided two assists in the league in the 2023-24 campaign.
The Sweden international is Newcastle’s main striker, and the club have to keep him to have a successful season.
