Paul Mitchell will be eager for Newcastle United to enjoy a fast start to the January transfer window.
With the window only open for a very short period of time, it is vital that Newcastle United try and get their business done as soon as possible.
It is also vital that they continue to comply with PSR, which is why Paul Mitchell will be tasked with selling players as well as buying them.
What Newcastle United want to do with Miguel Almiron
There are a few players who can leave Newcastle United in January, one of which is Miguel Almiron.
The 30-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at St James’ Park, and Newcastle are now willing to listen to offers for Almiron.
While it is not ‘essential’ that the Paraguayan leaves in January, Newcastle would like to sort out Almiron’s future as soon as possible. That is according to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about the current situation regarding Almiron.

“He knows he’s not in the mix now,” he said.
“He’s probably third or fourth choice out wide now. It’s not essential that Newcastle get him out, but a deal would help them in January. They are willing to let him go. His camp are looking at options. It just depends on what Newcastle are willing to take for him.
“There’s options all over, from Europe to Saudi Arabia to America. There are also big clubs in South America interested, such as River Plate. He is a wanted man, but Newcastle may have to pay him off a little bit.
“If Almiron is to go, Newcastle would like to get it done early in January.”
Almiron exit can open transfer door for Newcastle United
Ordinarily, Howe would not want to sell anyone without a replacement being guaranteed. However, it feels like Newcastle have enough alternatives that they can cope without Almiron.
With Joelinton thriving out wide once again, Newcastle have an extra option in attack. Meanwhile, Almiron has barely played this season, starting just once in the Premier League.
If the opportunity arises, it is important that Newcastle United move Miggy on. His influence has waned, and the time has come to cash in. The Magpies may even have to cut their losses, as there is no way anyone will pay anything near the £21million he cost Newcastle in 2019.
But if Almiron does go, it could really open up some opportunities for Newcastle. It would give them more capacity to spend, which is why it is vital that they sell him as soon as possible in January.
In truth, a move away is best for all involved, as Almiron is not happy about his lack of minutes at Newcastle. His situation at St James’ Park feels unlikely to change, so hopefully he is able to find a new home in early 2025.
